Building consistent and targeted internet traffic to your site takes time (usually a year or more), and it's a constant
reviewing of stats, how they are reflecting the efforts being made, and tweaking code, text, etc. As important as this, is the fact that building targeted traffic to your site should be a collaborative effort
between you and your designer (or permission should be given to the designer to regularly add textual content to the site on their own).
If there is not good action time put behind these efforts, the site will probably not be successful…unless maybe you have a blitz style (and usually much less "targeted") marketing plan and budget of $10,000
plus per year.Questions like the above do make sense from a surface point of view; however that comes from not seeing the complete picture and an explanation is necessary to give you a better view of
what it takes to make a site successful. Building a consistent and targeted site audience and traffic takes constantly and continuously evaluating trend information on your site visitors, as well
as on general internet trends, tweaking of the code in your site, tweaking textual additions to the site to see if popular targeted search terms could be included and doing so if possible, adding your links & info
to many as many places around the net as possible (this could be done continuously, and no kidding, the more the better always…it is highly important to continuously add to local, national & specialty
directories, search engines, targeted groups, links pages, targeted message boards, specialty sites, etc.). It is necessary to do these things for many reasons, but also to help you rank higher in search engines.
I hear what you're thinking :) …and you're right, it IS an important not to downplay the necessity of adding to the site's textual content at least monthly so that the content changes and/or increases
(hence my strong encouragement that you do so) in order to improve search engine results, but it's not the only thing. There is a lot of work to do in the background to try and build targeted traffic and
improved search engine results to your sites. On the part of your designer, all allotted hours should be used for every customer completely, every month
when the time is available to do so (I always use them all). Whether or not a customer is sending updates (or allowing the designer to add content on their own regularly), is only a portion of what needs to be done. An additional note on that same subject…if getting updates to your designer has been difficult for you because of your own time constraints, it's quite easy to give your designer approval to make decisions
about certain textual updates that they may be able to do monthly entirely on their own. You should check to see if this could be a solution for you. If you'd like to talk about updates, please contact me anytime.~~~~~~~ Return to Client Resources |
